Women

Faith…..Hope…..Love in Action

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of Women whose purpose is:

* To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;
* To develop a creative, supportive fellowship and
* To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

The Marquam United Methodist Church women’s group (UMW) in support of our purpose, are involved in the community throughout the year.

Meeting monthly ten (10) months of the year, we focus on planning events that are open to the community. In addition to the many free events, we have several major fund raisers resulting in generous donations to more than a dozen local non-profit organizations in the local areas. Three of these fund raisers are a spring rummage sale, summer BBQ benefit, and Bazaar / Oral Auction in November.

Young people in the community are invited to join us for an Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Party and Vacation Bible School.

A number of missional activities are coordinated by UMW and other members throughout the year.

* Socks, underwear, diapers and other related items are collected and donated to St. Joseph’s in Mt. Angel

* We serve monthly at the Molalla Adult Center and months with a 5th Wednesday at the Silverton First Christian Church community meal.

* A monthly mission brunch is served after worship on the first Sunday with funds donated in support of our denominational missionaries.

* We provide a luncheon and/or desserts for family members and guests attending a funeral or memorial
service held in our building.

Several (but not all inclusive) recipients of our fundraising activities include the Silverton and Molalla area food banks, Silverton and Molalla High School Graduation Parties, Scotts Mills Community Center, Habitat for Humanity, First Christian Church (Silverton) Weekly Community Dinner, and Silverton Together.

We would love to have you join us in serving our community!
